Character Name: Ray Palmer
Age:36
Series: CW TV Legends of Tomorrow
canon point:brief history: http://arrow.wikia.com/wiki/Ray_Palmer
Personality: By all outward appearances, Ray Palmer is an ambitious inventor with a high level of intelligence. As a businessman he’s charming and amicable, and motivated to achieve greater success. His ego is somewhat tied to his work as an engineer and his intelligence. He wants to have a life that means something and leave a legacy behind before he dies. As a billionaire business man he is keenly goal orientated and will go to absurd lengths to achieve his goals, such as purchasing a holding company of a tech outlet just to hire someone. While he may be charismatic, he sometimes has trouble connecting and understanding other people and doesn’t always realize that his approach isn’t always the best way to accomplish a goal. Occasionally his persistence and stubbornness works to his advantage, others a detriment.

Ray has a bright and sunny outlook on life, willing to see things in a more positive way that others might. He has a ready smile and is always willing to see the best in people, even if he knows that their values are opposite of his as in the case of his relationship with Leonard Snart. He knew he was a thief, but wanted to believe that he could be more than just a petty criminal if he put his mind to it. He tends towards looking for ways to improve the situation for others and will often go out of his way, and go above and beyond to help them out. Depending on his resources it may be as simple as a new super hero suit, or as elaborate as spending thousands of dollars to buy out a restaurant for the night.. He’s also very positive in the face of adversity, especially when the chips are down. His optimism is so high that it often annoys his teammates.

Ray rarely shows outward signs of anger, as he often doesn’t have many reasons to be angry. He’s idealistic and rarely disturbed by personal strife. Even after he loses his fortune, his company and his suit, he’s more apt to make a joke or two at his own expense while at the same time acknowledging that he have an issue or two. The tone is upbeat and if he’s upset it’s almost impossible to tell beyond his chipper attitude. When he is upset, jokes and his gregarious nature are set aside and he’s all serious, getting to the point quickly. When he is angry, it’s usually in response to something in his life that is hurting him, such as emotional distress from the prospect of losing his ATOM suit or his terrible relationship experiences, or just feeling like he’s been betrayed and lied to. Being angry is more of something he experiences in the moment as opposed to letting it fester over time, as he tends to use it to motivate him to make the world a better place.

Memories effect Ray deeply. The death of his fiance being one of the driving forces behind his decision to acquire Queen Consolidated to gain access to their applied science division and resources and ultimately create the ATOM suit. When he meets Anna again later during an attempt to draw the Legends out by targeting their loves ones, it arguably put strain on his relationship with Kendra, though the nail in that coffin was due to the fact that he was effectively a placeholder for Carter due to the issue of their being soulmates. When he was in the Dominators simulation, he was had to deal with the idea of him and Felicity Smoak, being together again. It’s clear that he compartmentalized that fact, but the situation itself was more than a bit complex as it shows that having that life would be the ideal situation for him and that he still has feelings for her. Even so he can set those feelings aside to have a healthy platonic relationship with her as well as his romantic rival Oliver who he had to step aside for a year prior.

Ray is incredibly intelligent and resourceful, sporting a 140 IQ and three PHDs. While he makes most of his decisions based on reason and logic, he can often miss the nuance of a situation, or fail to consider the consequences of an action. He’s full of ideas and motivated to see them through, often becoming a it of a workaholic. Going so far to even skip meals and sleep to finish a project that he was dedicated to. In more difficult situations where he cannot directly defend himself less someone else get hurt, he uses his intellect and cleverness to find a way to either buy time or discretely communicate to a member of his team so he can effect the situation in their favor. He is smart enough to know when it’s time to cooperate in order to get into a situation so that he can actually do something.

His obsession with legacy bears emphasizing, as he attaches much of his self worth to his achievements and inventions. In response to glib remark from Sarah regarding his personality, that without his suit he’s just an eccentric billionaire, he took the first opportunity he could to try and give himself tangible super powers, but had to give them up to save his new friend Nate. He again was very emotionally troubled when he lost his suit to a shogun and was forced to instruct Nate to destroy it. After getting his suit back, he became fairly attached to it, to the point of making his teammate suggest he had issues. He wants to leave something behind that he is remembered for, and when he died in the public eye and nobody seemed to care, he was crestfallen and had to cope with the realization that everything he had done up until that point didn’t matter in the big picture. This is a significant blow to his ego, which is why he puts so much value in his ATOM suit as he sees it as all he has to offer in terms of achieving his lofty goals of saving the world.

Network Sample:
Gideon? I know you’ve set this network up but why are the comms not working?

[A lengthy pause as it dawns on him he’s not about to get his answer, he turns his head down to the Palmer Tech wearable watch he elected to use as a receiver for the network card and pulls off his Helmet, offering a amicable smile to the camera.]

I guess this is a recording then. I’m Ray, and as you can see there’s something a little bit wrong with this City, that is, that time and space appears to be doing something wonky. Actually without quoting Doctor Who that’s probably the best way to describe it. See, what is happening here to the best of my understanding of physics quantum and otherwise, is that space and time is folding in on a single point, which is currently, Los Angeles.

I tried flying out of here, so far no good. It just spit me into a building at the same velocity I was moving trying to fly out of the town town area. Not fun.

So uh… Try to stay together and if you need help dealing with these dinos let me know. I know a thing or two about wrangling T-rexes.

That’s about it. ATOM out.

Third Person:

There is a twinge of guilt that weighed on Ray’s shoulders as he traversed the new landscape. They, or at least their future selves, caused this situation by coming back in time to change the past events. Caused this time storm. Even if the future him was dead somehow, that didn’t diminish the sense that he was responsible for this. Technically it wasn't that bad, nothing as bad as being trapped in the cretaceous period although the presence of dinosaurs certainly gave him a bit of anxiety given his time trying to survive against them earlier this year. He could think of plenty of scenarios which were far less optimal than this one.

Ray felt a little awkward as he walked around in what appeared to be a 1950s small American town. In his space age armor, he stood out like a sore thumb. The only remedy for that was to do a quick change. He pauses, spotting a phone booth and considering it. If only that could work, he thinks with a slight grin.

He shook his head and walking towards an alleyway near a malt shop He can just slip out and put his suit in his pocket. Sure he had nothing to wear besides his under armor, but he could find something else. Clothes, information, all of that would be pretty useful right about now. Also he could probably fiddle with his comm ear piece, which had gone silent, and see if he couldn’t contact the others.

Removing the suit, he shrunk and pocketed it, and almost immediately began shrinking himself. Oh no. No, no no, this is a problem.

His suit fell right out of his pocket as he shrank, his clothes alone with him, but now, he had a normal sized suit, and a small action figure sized self.

And this was a problem.

“Reeeally hope you guys are out there…” He says, tapping his comm as he leans the suit against the wheel of a dumpster.

“Because i have a little problem.”
